Making the decision to begin therapy takes courage. Over time we will cultivate a relationship built on the foundation of mutual respect, trust and safety. You, as the client, have the opportunity to share the deepest things that are troubling you as well as anything else that is going on in your life. Using an integrative, or whole person approach to therapy, no part of you is left out. Together we explore all aspects of your life and identify trigger points that might be contributing to your suffering. By beginning to understand patterns that keep you feeling stuck in relationships with others, money, or your health, you can start to live the life you always dreamt of. Therapy is no magic pill and it does require commitment and hard work. My specific area of expertise is cardiac health working with patients while they are experiencing acute heart attacks. I understand the stress of an unexpected medical emergency and know how scary and potentially traumatizing it can be. Having walked the walk towards living a life that feels authentic, rich, and meaningful, I understand it's not about taking a magic pill and waking up transformed overnight- obtaining our deepest desires requires courage and vulnerability. I know what it feels like to experience life knowing that there has to be more to it. I also know how that feeling can leave you asking many questions. I have come to be a therapist through my own struggles with depression and anxiety. By walking bravely through the healing process, I have a unique qualification to understand others and create a safe space for my clients to heal. I believe one of my best qualities as a therapist is my ability to bring humor and lightness to difficult and challenging topics, making the journey of therapy less scary, but still deeply transformative.
A bit about my education and training: I obtained my Bachelor's in Nursing from Augustana College in 1998. After nursing for many years, I identified the need to experience and interact with a deeper sense of healing so I started practicing yoga for myself and then began my in depth study of yoga at yogaworks, LA in 2009 where I completed 500 hours of teacher training. I continued growing with the Forrest Foundation Teacher Training in 2011. From there my desire brought me to be interested in the field of energetics and the way the mind interacts with the body and spirit to create pain and disease. Because of my insatiable desire to understand the human condition I enrolled at Pacifica Graduate Institute in 2013. In 2016, I completed my Masters in Counseling Psychology and have been practicing psychotherapy in California ever since. I utilize all of my education to help you transform and heal in whatever situation you are struggling with. I look forward to getting to know you more and hearing about your life.
